TOP SHELF was formed in the Spring of 2013 with a desire to sing the very best blend of barbershop and current music. It is our goal to share a unique variety of music with our listeners, and bring barbershop harmony to new audiences. Although we are a relatively new quartet, we collectively have over 80 years of barbershop singing experience! We are very excited about our future together, as we have placed as high as the top five in both the Johnny Appleseed District Contest and the Johnny Appleseed International Preliminary contest.

Jason would be considered a Barbershop Brat. He has been singing Barbershop Harmony since the age of 11, and has been a member of the Singing Buckeyes for over 30 years. Jason has been a part of several quartets over the years, most notably, IMPULSE which won the Johnny Appleseed District Contest in the fall of 2002 and competed at the International Quartet Competition three times. Jason is an Ele

mentary School Principal with the Upper Arlington City Schools and resides there with his two sons (Tyler and Michael "also Barbershop Brats").

JT was introduced to Barbershop music in the early 90s when he took in the sounds of the Maumee Valley Seaway Commanders Chorus in Toledo, OH with featured quartet, The Ritz. As an undergraduate of Bowling Green State University, JT sang baritone in a featured barbershop quartet crafted from the members of the BGSU Men's Chorus. Following graduation, JT moved to Columbus, OH and continued his barbershop journey by singing baritone with The Singing Buckeyes Chorus. JT later joined the Alliance Chorus where he switched to singing lead. JT lives in the Central Ohio area with his wife, Kristin and their three daughters, Elise, Lauren, and Victoria. When JT isn't spending time with his family or ringing chords with Top Shelf, he may be found ministering music at Saint Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville, OH or architecting technology solutions for the retail industry.

John has been singing in quartets and with the Singing Buckeyes chorus for over 20 years. He has sung bass in the majority of his quartets (most notably Class Ring - JAD medalists), a little bit of lead (Buckeye Blend), and now baritone.  When not singing, John can be found working as a licensed physical therapist assistant at Grant Hospital.  John's wife, Maggie, is a Sweet Adeline who also sings the baritone part.  They can't sing together because no one can stay on the melody.

Richard has been a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society for 15 years. He is a 1997 graduate of The Ohio State University, where he was a 5 year member of The Ohio State University Marching Band and the Men's Glee Club. Richard teamed up with Jason to win the 2002 Johnny Appleseed District Championship with "Impulse" and qualified for the International Contest 3 times. Richard also sang bass and competed at the International Contest with the 2008 Johnny Appleseed District Champions, Cadillac Jack.
